SYNERGY’S RESIN IS UNIQUE

SYNERGY’S resin binder is unique. It is a two part, water born thermoset resin that contains both hydrophilic and hydrophobic components. Hydrophilic resins absorb water and by varying the proportions of each type we can accurately control the permeability of the coating and therefore the amount of copper that can leach from it.

This is important because if the leaching rate is too low the coating will foul and if too high it will cause unnecessary pollution and the life of the coating will be reduced.

Epoxy coatings are inherently impermeable and all epoxy bound copper antifoulings contain water soluble components that are intended to wash from the coating to leave them sufficiently porous for the copper to leach from them. However, because epoxy coatings cure to variable degrees according to the ambient temperature their performance varies. Epoxy bound antifoulings are also susceptible to ‘blushing or blooming’ which can form an impermeable film on their surfaces affecting performance.

SYNERGY is more reliable because whatever application method is used, or whatever the climatic conditions are during application its hydrophilic resin content, and therefore its permeability and performance remain constant.

Synergy is not affected by ‘blushing or blooming’ as are epoxy bound products.

SYNERGY’S resin is a creamy, water born emulsion in which the copper settles only slowly or not at all. On application its pseudoplastic, non sticky nature enables it to be applied in thin, smooth coats quickly with little effort. It is as easy to apply as domestic emulsion paint.
